About the Organization
United Center for Health Alignment Network (UCHAN), formerly known as UCAN, was founded to combat diseases and promote health, education, and empowerment within local communities.
Since 2008, UCHAN has been active in Nansana and Wakiso districts of Uganda. Our mission is to empower families and youth through initiatives in health, education, economic empowerment, child development, and environmental protection.
Vision and Goals
We envision an empowered and developed community. To achieve this, UCHAN runs programs in the following key areas:
- Health: Organizing workshops and medical camps to raise awareness about diseases such as HIV/AIDS, malaria, cervical cancer, hepatitis, and other emerging illnesses. In 2023, around 50 people received free dental consultations, treatment, and health education.
- Education: Supporting adult literacy programs, providing learning materials for children, and partnering with local schools to strengthen educational access.
- Child Uplift: Enhancing nutrition and health for vulnerable children and families through food assistance, educational support, and continuous follow-up.
- Empowerment: Promoting a culture of saving and credit, offering vocational training in areas such as poultry farming, horticulture, arts and design, and metalworking, and forming income-generating cooperatives to improve livelihoods.
- Environment: Promoting waste management practices, leading tree-planting initiatives, and developing innovative projects such as biodegradable starch bag production.

Challenges and Needs
We continue to face funding limitations that affect the expansion of our educational and environmental projects, as well as efforts to upgrade our technological infrastructure. Sustained financial and technical support is essential to maintain, strengthen, and grow these initiatives effectively.
